There are so many excellent web sites devoted to issues surrounding bereavement and caregiving that it is impossible to list them all. However, here's a small sampling.

The hospice movement has slowly changed our country's approach to dying, allowing patients to make--and asking others to respect--their own personal choices for end-of-life care. Hospice organizations include the Hospice Foundation of America , the
National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, and the VNA.

The VNA of the Treasure Coast (and its sister VNAs around the country) provides exceptional end of life care in my "hometown" community; I am grateful to have had its support during the deaths of both of my parents, and honored to have worked beside it during the Art of Hospice program.

Caregiving is one of the most difficult paths any of us can walk--and it is becoming more and more a part of our lives. A variety of organizations including the National Family Caregivers Association, the National Alliance for Caregiving, and the Family Caregiver Alliance, among others, provide valuable information, education, and advocacy. The FamilyCaregiving101 website is helpful in identifying and framing critical questions a caregiver faces.
